In its online edition of December 30, 2010, El Pais, which is part of the shrinking cluster Media Group PRISA-English multinational has surprised us with a headline and an article that expresses the square of a circle is closing ever more as it increases the prestige of the mass media subjects of economic power. What we usually see posted in the media in regard to the process of building socialism in Latin America (propaganda of Big Brother in Washington, manipulated news, half-truths and whole lies) now must add a new "genre of journalism" mindless manipulation.
El Pais, a newspaper obviously very right totem although some liberals residual in the orbit of the PSOE, offers us the following story: "The indigenous leader becomes liberal", referring to Evo Morales and his policy of hydrocarbons in Bolivia. As much as we read and reread the article, signed by one Jorge Marirrodriga (sic) - do not find neither feet nor head. The headline is "police court" called "liberal" Evo Morales to do exactly the opposite of what they intend to do or do liberals and neoliberals like Rajoy and Zapatero, respectively, in both cases.
economic measures Morales' leftist government are based on nationalization and the domain public's main source of national wealth: hydrocarbons, which were privatized in the era of dictator Hugo Banzer partisan and so far have been in the hands of foreign multinationals as the English Repsol-YPF. Not to mention the truly progressive reforms undertaken in Bolivia's social legislation designed to encourage workers and most of the Andean country's citizens, as the recent lowering of retirement age to 58 years (note the data in Booty's Spain and Zapatero). Must be currently so discredited the term "liberal" to the champions of liberalism as PRISA-El Pais holders begin to use as a weapon. As for the article, is typical in these cases, that is, anything you're not already accustomed: lies, manipulation, half truths, blatant contradictions, etc. Castiza abstracted are more than an anteater nose.
only add one more thing: Evo Morales is the constitutional president of Bolivia, of all Bolivians, not an "indigenous leader," as says the owner of El Pais, or Sitting Bull or Yellow Hand. Neocolonial racism also uninhibited in a headline as concise. I would never forgive the President of Bolivia its strategic alliance with Cuba and Venezuela, those "communist dictatorships" according to El Pais and most English media about virtually taken over by the right, looking either liberal or the most ancient in its various versions but not distant. Certainly not lack anything to this "news" of the country signed by such Marirrodriga.
Ps-Who wants to read this example of journalism manipulative but clearly clueless on this link it has [I noticed that may offend the sensibilities of people reported]: "The indigenous leader becomes liberal" (the PaĆs.com, 30/12/2010)
