In Milan Carnival not closed on Mardi Gras, as in other cities, but the following Saturday. In fact, according to tradition, St. Ambrose, patron saint of Milan, Milan asked to wait for his return to the Lenten liturgy, being engaged in a pilgrimage. To this day the rite in the archdiocese of the city of ashes is celebrated the first Sunday of Lent.

On Saturday you can watch the streets of downtown to the traditional afternoon parade and the evening show in Piazza del Duomo.

The Samedi Gras is an anti-racism initiative, a carnival where everyone is racist except Milan. It will be a parade full of joy, music, dance and culture. Migrant communities participate in the city and many intercultural associations operating in the Milan area.
