The Persian calendar (also known as Jalal calendar or Iranian calendar), little known in the Western world, is currently used in Iran and Afghanistan.

On this occasion, all the families are preparing a very special table that is called "the seven they" (Haft Sin) in reference to the seven symbols of good luck all with just the name that starts with "s": a plate of green wheat germ which is the awakening of nature, a plate of coins for wealth and also dried fruits, apples, spices, etc. .. The number of things starting with S in fact usually more than 7, which remains in the name of its great symbolism. On the table it is possible to find a mirror, a recurring motif Persian architecture, for its power to reflect the soul. Another very important symbol of this new year are the goldfish in the city is filled in the days before the New Year. Each child gets one to put on the table with the seven "S" as a symbol of life and fluidity.
